There’s not much to write other than “CRACK CANDY!” So deliciously addicting….. hence the word crack. I have watched people go crazy in selfishness when it comes to the crunch of crack candy clusters…lying, stealing and acting like complete gluttons. It’s that good. Here’s the recipe… don’t wait another minute to make these crack candy clusters, you won’t regret it. Plus it’s the ideal thing to take to a party where you will be forced to share. Ingredients for Crack Candy Clusters:
- 3 – cups salted peanuts
- 5 – cups cherrios
- 5 – cups Chex cereal (corn)
- 3 – cups broken pretzel stick pieces
- 3 – sticks butter (24 tablespoons)
- 2 2/3 – cups granulated sugar
- 1 – cup light corn syrup
- 3 – teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 – cups dried cranberries
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a big bowl add peanuts, cherrios, chex cereal, and pretzels pieces together. Mixing with your hands. Set to the side.
- In a dutch oven with a candy thermometer attached to the side add butter, sugar, and corn syrup.
- Place dutch oven over a medium flame and stirring constantly until mixture melts and candy thermometer reaches 290 degrees fahrenheit (hard crack). It takes about 15 minutes to reach this point.
- Remove sugar/butter mixture from flame and mix in vanilla.
- Pour the sugar/butter/vanilla over peanut/cereal mix. Using a large spoon mix well to combine.
- Divide mixture amongst two baking sheet lined cookie sheets and place in oven for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and stir crack candy on baking sheets, and place back in oven for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and place on aluminum foil or lined up baking mats, then sprinkle dried cranberries to top.
- Allow to completely cool for 2 hours.
- Scoop up into bowls and serve.
