I remember it like it was yesterday.  I had just crossed the border into Tijuana, Mexico with my Dad (which was a rare occasion, since I hardly ever spent time with him).  He was determined to take me on an adventure and show me all the customs of TJ. From the stories that my Dad shared, TJ was a place with no rules, a grown-up fun house where you could take your shoes off and run through the streets and no one would say anything or look twice.  He also had a big love for the food and was hard set on taking me to his favorite torta shop.  My Dad has always loved a good torta de milanesa and this is one thing I know for sure about him, so I wasn’t surprised when this was the first thing he had on our agenda.

There are very few things that make me as happy as a freshly baked homemade Cheddar Caramelized Onion Sourdough Loaf. This bready gem is worth feeding your starter for month after month, year after year. I wrote this recipe down in hopes you will enjoy it this holiday season, as I know my family will be.

This vegetarian muffuletta is all you’ll need to SCORE big with your friends and family this Super Bowl Sunday!! I used my own homemade sourdough bread, but as a time saver you can buy a loaf at your favorite bakery. I also made the most tasty olive salad to enclose my sandwich fillings. As a little girl seeing JAWS for the first time I was scared out of my mind. A few days ago I was at Walmart looking for some summer water toys and wandered into the grocery section of the store in need of butter. Max (my 8 year old son, soon to be 9) has been asking to get more involved in the kitchen, I figured I may as well loosen my apron strings a little bit and teach him some basics. As a closeted helicopter mom, I thought a crispy  grilled cheese sandwich would be a good starting point. Over the Summer of 2017 I had the grand experience of exploring Italy and all it’s glory. We adventured from the south tip of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the northern peak of Venice to the mountain tops of Perugia to the Piazza De Popolo of Rome, and what I found was Italy is very similar to California as far as produce is concerned.
