The final days of Christmas are almost here. Jan. 6th marks Three Kings Day, and it wouldn’t be complete without a Disney celebration. From Jan. 2nd to Jan. 6th Disney’s California Adventure is celebrating Dia De Los Reyes in a whole new way. DCA is providing guests with a culturally rich experience through Viva Navidad! Now is your last chance to experience the magic of Three Kings Day ala Disney with the new “Spirit Of Navidad,” a joyful storytelling performance. A bilingual story through song performed so beautifully, it might make you cry. It made me tear up a bit… I was at DCA on the 2nd to kick off the celebration. In addition to all the wonderful food (rosca de reyes), the amazing Viva Navidad street party, the Mariachi Divas, The spirit of Navidad, and folklorico dancers…. I had the opportunity to make buñuelos (recipe ingredients below) with Chef Toby, chat with Carlos Martinez (Lead host of the Disneyland Resort), and caught a glimpse of all there performances on video. Watch the video below to learn to make buñuelos and rush over to Disney’s California Adventure and celebrate Three Kings Day!

Recipe courtesy of Disneyland:

  • 6 – flour tortillas
  • 1 – cup sugar

  2. Line a plate with paper towels. Set to the side.
  3. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a small dish.
  4. Pierce the tortilla several times with the tines of a fork to keep bubbles from forming when frying.
  5. Using tongs, lower the tortilla into the hot vegetable oil. Fry on each side for 45 seconds or until golden brown.
  6. Using tongs, remove tortilla from hot oil an drain on paper towel lined plate. Let cool for 45 seconds.
