YES, YES, YES…. I went to Mickey’s Halloween Party this year. I have to say it is hands down my favorite event of the Halloween season. I say I go for my son, but I have to be honest I got all giddy when I got the invite to come kickoff Halloween Mickey style. Why wouldn’t I? It’s so magical and the attention to detail is off the charts. Disneyland has managed to surpass my Disney expectations in the most grandiose way. Last Friday Max, my Mom, my Auntie Rosie and I headed to Anaheim for Mickey’s Halloween Party. We knew exactly what we were going to do as soon as we got there… get on Haunted Mansion Holiday, collect a candy bounty with some trick or treating, amaze our eyes with the “paint the night” parade, marvel at the “Halloween Screams” firework show, run into friends, and run around Disneyland like a kid on holiday.
First and foremost let’s talk about the trick or treating. Disney pulls out all the stops with the candy selection. They handed out everything from nice chocolate bars to peeps to apple slices to carrots to chez-it’s to chewy fruit candy. We were impressed and needless to say Max loved it. Even us adults took part in the fun…. EVERYONE is allowed to trick or treat costume or not.
Then there’s the Paint The Night Parade… If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and get down to Disneyland and take it in. It is the most spectacular parade ever. With one million lights highlighting every detail of this wonderful creation. We were in complete awe of the design of all the costumes and floats. My Aunt wouldn’t even take pictures because she said she didn’t want to miss a second of the light feast before her. My son was dancing on the sidewalk and waving to all the characters. My Mom was completely snap happy getting a trillion shots for her instagram account. 🙂
Immediately following the parade is the “Halloween Scream” Firework show. It is amazing how well organized the whole presentation is. Once the parade is done, you get up from the sidewalk and go into the center of the street for the perfect view of the firework display, and all the shops along main street light up with animation that choreograph with the show. Disney does it again.
I’m sure from my photos you can tell we had an awesome time. I just feel so lucky to have been able to attend and take my loved ones along for the ride. I can’t wait to go again next year! Thank you Disneyland for the Happiest Halloween of all.
If you’re wondering what I did with all my trick or treat candy… I made Peek-A-Boo Halloween Candy Bark… Let me share this easy recipe.
Ingredients for Peek-A-Boo Halloween Candy Bark:
- Halloween candy (cut into pieces)
- Candy eyes
- 4 – cups dark chocolate
Directions:
- Unwrap all candy and slice into pieces. Set to the side.
- In a large metal bowl sitting over a pot of boiling water, add in chocolate chips and melt down until smooth.
- Pour chocolate on a nonstick baking mat, then with a spatula smooth out into a large rectangle.
- Place candy pieces and candy eyes into the chocolate.
- Place in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Cut with a knife into chunks and serve.
- Happy Halloween! Enjoy!
