It’s funny how quickly time flies. Last summer, I was in Italy absorbing the culture and of course eating lots of amazing food, grabbing anything I thought would be a delicious discovery. I remember sitting on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea at a little outdoor cafe and ordering a bag filled with beer battered veggies and fries served with a cold beer. I had never seen anything quite like it back here in the United States and was ready to adopt this new treat. (more…)

Vanilla Vodka Infused Watermelon Sprinkled In Lime Sugar

Vanilla vodka infused watermelon sprinkled in lime sugar is the perfect deconstructed cocktail to serve at your next party.

Have you ever had vanilla vodka infused watermelon sprinkled in lime sugar? If your answer is yes, then you and I can be friends. If your answer is no, then you must give this recipe a try at your next gathering and we will quickly become friends. This is definitely the kind of deconstructed cocktail you want to serve when getting festive. As I like to call it the ‘party starter of all party starters.’ I say cocktail loosely because no cup needed and munching is part of the arrangement. (more…)

Homemade Pizza: Add What You Want To It!

Homemade pizza, add what you want to it.

I woke up yesterday knowing it was time to feed my bread starter. I laid in bed wondering what to do with my day and suddenly a fun idea floated across my brain. I asked my son “Do you want to make homemade pizza today?” He looked at me and said “homemade pizza?” I nodded, then said (more…)

Vegetarian Chile Verde paired with Sutter Home White Zinfandel #SutterHomeSweetOnSpice

I had never thought about it, until recently I was out to dinner and I ordered a super spicy green chile enchilada. I took one bite and the chile heat in my mouth shot up to ‘can you handle these flames’ status. As I sat there inhaling ‘save me’ gulps of air my friend handed me her glass of Sutter Home White Zinfandel . I reached for it thinking it was my life line back to a neutral palate, but was instead surprised at what a lovely transformation the spicy combined with the sweet wine evolved into. I immediately took note and asked “what are you drinking?” (more…)

Spicy Peanut Sauce Noodles: Perfect for Vegans

,Spicy Noodles In Peanut Sauce will bring miles of smiles to your family

Spicy Peanut Sauce Noodles: An great way to make your family swoon.

I’m always thinking of setting the tone through food. There are definite ties to food and moods. When I’m happy and celebratory I want all the comfort food. Feeling my fitness I drink lots of water and eat salads. If want to relax, I drink tea and have a cookie. When I miss my Grandpa (which is often) and want to feel closer to him I eat Mexican food or a sandwich with chips. You get what I’m saying. (more…)

I’m a mom. A mom that tries to satisfy everyone in my family. If you follow me on social media or here on my blog you know my son is a strawberry fanatic. He is extremely picky with the quality of strawberries and will not allow them to pass his lips if they are not red to the stem or even slightly bruised. With this type of inspection going on we have bought strawberries grown around the planet in search of what is ideal to his tastes. He has finally nailed down that he prefers strawberries grown here in his homestate of California. (more…)
